American
Safe Room fabricates these steel ventilation pipes for use
in underground shelters. They are usually installed in pairs
on a shelter for air intake and air outflow.
These
pipes are 4-inch diameter welded steel pipes that are finished
with a coat of primer. They feature continuous weldment
construction including a mounting plate that mounts to the
outside of your shelter with the included concrete wedge
anchors. They can mount to either the ceiling, or the wall
of a shelter. Also
included is a heavy neoprene gasket that seals the mounting
flange to the shelter.
The
top of these pipes are
terminated with a heavy duty removable steel rain hood that
houses a removable (and cleanable) insect screen. We changed
to this design after building vent pipes with 180 degree
tops because they appear to be "stanchions" not
"battleship air scoops" in order to minimize the
possibility of someone spotting the location of your underground
shelter. A steel post may get a second glance, a large steel
candy cane in the back yard warrants a closer inspection.
These
ventilation ducts are built to order. Please see the manual
(PDF)for
ordering details. Once we have the required information
from you, we will send you a formal quotation. These ventilation
pipes are a special
order item.
